    Crisis Intervention Team Training (CIT)

The Crisis Intervention Team Training is an innovative community-based approach to helping law-enforcement deescalate situations with those with mental illnesses. This training helps officers recognize the signs of someone in crisis and get them the help they need rather than going to jail. The Athens CIT training has been held for sixteen years and over this time over 400 officers have been trained.
