What does the 317 Board do?
-
Creates a Network of Care for people who need treatment for mental illness and/or alcohol and drug addiction.

Contracts with local agencies to deliver services to our friends, families and community members.

Obtains funds, designs policies, and monitors services for those seeking help.

Promotes educational and prevention programs to raise community awareness of behavioral health issues.
The Ohio Revised Code prohibits the following individuals from serving on the 317 Board's board of directors:

Board members of any of the 317 Board’s contracted service providers

Employees of any of the 317 Board’s contracted service providers

Individuals whose spouse, child, parent, brother, sister, grandchild, stepparent, stepchild, stepbrother, stepsister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law serves as a member of the board of one of the 317 Board’s contracted service providers

Individuals whose spouse, child, parent, brother, sister, stepparent, stepchild, stepbrother, stepsister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law serves as a county commissioner of Athens, Hocking, or Vinton counties.
317 Board members must be a resident of either Athens, Hocking, or Vinton counties.
The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services appoints members through an application process.
