Athens Photographic Project
The Athens Photographic Project (APP) is an award-winning, fine art program that provides photography as a resource in mental health recovery and community integration.
Within a supportive classroom environment, APP photographers learn how to develop and express their personal vision in the arts. Within the community, APP photographers are challenged to approach their lives creatively, through the lens of a camera. These experiences inspire participants to explore identity through self-expression, to develop value and trust in their perspective, to build new friendships, and to regain meaningful activity, all while contributing to their community as artists.
With lead support from the 317 Board and major support from the community, the APP provides 10-week introductory and advanced level photography classes, professional camera equipment and supplies, exceptional photographic instruction, and gallery exhibition opportunities at no charge to participating artists.
